Hunger in Arizona

What do you usually give when you donate to food banks? Canned items? Boxed goods? How about milk?  Did you know that each food bank client receives less than a gallon of milk per year?

In Arizona, the statistics are staggering: over 1 million Arizonans struggle with food insecurity. Food banks are working hard to help meet the needs.  They are also making efforts to improve the nutritional quality of foods available, yet, 95 percent of food banks surveyed say they do not receive enough milk to meet the demand.

According to Feeding America®, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, milk is one of the items most requested by food bank clients, yet there is a nationwide shortage because it is rarely donated.
